Birregurra is where Simon and Kara Stewart first kissed, a sweet dash of trivia which, like every taste, smell, sight and touch at Yield, swells with a deeper connection.
The Stewarts are passionate about all things local and live just outside Birregurra with their children, Scarlett, Ezra and Bobby. Opening Yield in the Spring of 2018 has given them a cherished platform to extend their home into their workplace. In look, feel and vibe – Yield is more than the realisation of a dream. It’s a celebration of a way of life.
Connection drives Simon and Kara. Their Birregurra and Colac provisions stores both embody their belief that dining is an experience best shared with loved ones. The Yield at Home menu is underpinned by vegetables grown organically in local paddocks or from the Yield garden. Meat is also sourced from local farmers.
Connecting guests with their community is their vision. It’s about building a stronger community by linking arms with farmers, makers and producers.
Yield is committed to minimising waste. The share plate-style menu changes daily and with the seasons, made up of what is available from local farmers and growers. Seasons are prolonged by pickling and fermenting, and the liquor menu is sourced from small Victorian producers.
At Yield, you don’t get pretence or frills, purely food prepared with heart and soul. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of where it came from, of our responsibility to care, and with a connection that endures.
